On March 25, 2026, students in one of our second-grade classrooms celebrated National Medal of Honor Day by learning about the bravery and sacrifice of United States military veterans. The day provided a meaningful opportunity for our students to explore the significance of medals awarded for acts of courage and service.
Throughout the lesson, students were introduced to the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military award. Teachers guided discussions about what it means to demonstrate bravery and dedication to others. Students engaged in activities, including viewing images of medals and discussing the importance of honoring those who have served.
The classroom was filled with thoughtful conversations as students connected the idea of heroism to their own lives, identifying ways they can show kindness, courage, and respect in their daily actions. The lesson not only strengthened their understanding of history but also encouraged the development of strong character values.
By recognizing Medal of Honor Day, the second-grade class gained a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by military members and the importance of remembering and honoring those who have served our country.
